Credenza, prestigious piece of furniture, carved walnut cabinet from the 17th century - Henri IV Late Renaissance. Remarkable two-body credenza, a prestigious piece of carved walnut furniture, embodying the antique ideal and architectural elegance of early 17th-century France. Classical-inspired design borrowing from the repertoire of Roman antiquity: fluted pilasters with Ionic capitals, strict vertical geometry, nobility of proportions. An ensemble of great finesse. Upper body from the period (17th century): opening with a central door featuring a prominently protruding panel, animated by successive mouldings framing a vertical rectangle in reserve. The façade is rhythmically divided by four fluted pilasters, crowned with sculpted Ionic capitals. Overhanging cornice with superimposed mouldings. An ensemble with fine and assertive vertical geometry, characteristic of the Henri IV / Louis XIII repertoire. Base added in the 19th century: recess forming a display niche. Made of solid walnut, presenting a beautiful golden patina acquired through use and time. Functionality: door and drawer in very good working condition. Lock and key present but not original; the original system was probably equipped with a mechanism that simultaneously locked the door and drawer. Condition: Generally good condition, functional piece ready to take its place in an interior. The ensemble has been treated against wood-eating insects and checked by a cabinetmaker. Signs of old restorations and successive interventions, consistent with its age. Base and feet added in the 19th century. Signs of use, natural wood splits, authentic patina preserved. Measurements: • Total height: 154 cm. • Width at the cornice: 88 cm. • Depth at the cornice: 47 cm.
