Very beautiful large antique oil painting on canvas depicting pink peonies in bloom and buds in a delicate naturalistic style close to botanical illustration. Signed at the bottom right E. Jacque, French work from the late 19th to early 20th century. The canvas is presented in its original wood and stucco frame, black and gold, fully restored, consolidated, repainted, and varnished; the reliefs still show some stabilized cracks that add character to the whole. Frame 64x40cm with a depth of 3cm, canvas approximately 55x33cm. Very good overall condition, old frame in black wood and stucco with gold decorations, completely restored: external mouldings redone by hand, slightly visible but clean and complete appearance, repainted and varnished, visible but stable stucco cracks. The varnish on the painting is slightly darkened but the canvas is clean. Weighs approximately 1.5-2 kg.
