Electrified oil lamp in bronze and hand-painted Gien faience, 19th century, Italian Renaissance style. A collector's item combining historical beauty and modern functionality. This exquisite lamp, originally an oil lamp, has been professionally electrified to offer the warmth and ambiance of an antique piece, combined with the comfort of modern lighting. It is a magnificent example of craftsmanship, combining the robustness of bronze with the delicacy of Gien faience. The base and fittings are made of patinated bronze, giving it remarkable weight and stability. The central body is hand-painted Gien faience, a type of earthenware from a prestigious French manufacturer renowned for its quality and the richness of its decoration. The faience features a rich and vibrant design, inspired by the Italian Renaissance. A cobalt blue medallion stands out, adorned with a charming putto (angel/cupid) in gold and reddish tones, framed by scrolls and gilded ornaments. The rest of the lamp features an enveloping motif of grotesques, fantastical birds, and polychrome plant designs on a soft cream background, characteristic of the style. It is topped with a classic-style clear glass shade that diffuses the light evenly. Total height: 59 cm. Dimensions of the lamp body: 35 cm high X 20 cm in diameter.
