Art Deco style vase designed by Josef Hoffmann for the Moser manufactory in Karlovy Vary in the 1930s, made of highly transparent alexandrite glass. The faceted structure and monumental form are based on an octagonal plan—both at the base and at the opening—with a clear horizontal division into three segments, creating a distinctive architectural silhouette typical of luxury Art Deco craftsmanship. The surface is smooth and shiny, and the decorative effect is built by the rhythm of deep vertical cuts and the play of light on the monolithic crystal. The vase displays the characteristic alexandrite glass colour-changing effect: in daylight, it appears purple, while cold lighting gives it a celadon, almost turquoise hue. The lack of additional decorations, fittings, and handles emphasises the integrity of the form. The manufacturer's signature confirms the authenticity of the item. The vase is in very good condition, with no visible signs of use or restoration. This vase speaks with the voice of the 1930s, when craftsmanship precision intertwined with the search for modern, geometric forms. Each of its faceted panels tells of a fascination with light and brilliance, of an era when glass was meant to be not just a background, but the hero of the interior. The play of colours visible under changing light reminds us how Art Deco artists and craftsmen interpreted opulence—not through excessive ornamentation, but through masterful control of form and material. When pale blue and green tones appear on the surface, it evokes the atmosphere of Art Nouveau palaces while also heralding modernist order. In a living room arrangement, the vase can be placed on a low console or marble table, where natural or artificial light will bring out the plasticity of the facets. It pairs perfectly with furniture of geometric shapes—such as a lacquered sideboard on a distinct base or a modernist chest of drawers. It works well with minimalist decorations: a single branch is enough not to overwhelm the monumental simplicity of the glass. Cool interiors with shades of grey or navy will highlight the impressive play of colours of the alexandrite glass; eclectic or collector's spaces will allow it to stand out among classic silver, Murano glass, or Art Nouveau ceramics. No additional technical data or care instructions. The vase is made of high-quality crystal glass typical for Moser, and its opalescent effect results from the properties of the alexandrite material, which is resistant to gentle cleaning with a soft cloth and lukewarm water without detergents.
