Regency Antique Metamorphic Stair Table with Leather

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original metamorphic library stair table from the Regency period, circa 1810-1820, fully restored, with oxblood red leather steps. This is an important and sophisticated piece of English Regency furniture. Every gentleman's library should have one. They were the epitome of elegance and technology from the late Georgian era to the early Victorian period. This table is a beautifully restored example, with the steps hidden inside the lower drawer. The idea is to place this table next to a very large library, and when you need to retrieve a book from the top shelf, you pull out the steps. The table has been fully restored by a French varnisher, who preserved all the patina and original appearance while revarnishing it. There will be normal patina marks due to age and use. The natural patina in the form of creases and wear is normal for antique items like this; for leather, an annual wax treatment is recommended, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided to preserve the hand-dyed leather.
