Colonial painting CEFEO RIC - Impressionist marine - Bay of HAÏ PHÒNG

Hello. I am offering an oil on canvas depicting a 3-sailed boat at sunrise and moored in the bay of HAI PHÒNG, the largest port city in the northeast of VIETNAM located in the Red River Delta region. With its 2,600 km of coastline, this land of the rising sun facing the sea has always been able to develop its trade and maritime activities, the country's leading economy. It is more than likely that this trading boat depicted in this painting is an Arab dhow recognizable with its sail which was to make a stopover between China and Arabia. Porcelain, tobacco or spices for example were transported in this way. In this region steeped in history, this peaceful boat accompanied by a few others in the distance, dated 1952, contrasts with its recent past and seems to make us furtively forget the tragic history of this country in the continuity of the Second World War.
