Marc Du Plantier (1901-1975) was a French designer, interior decorator, and artist who was active from the 1920s to the 1960s. He was known for his innovative approach to furniture design and his use of luxurious materials. Du Plantier began his career as an artist, studying painting and sculpture in Paris. However, he soon turned to furniture design and interior decoration, drawing inspiration from both traditional French design and contemporary artistic movements. Du Plantier’s furniture designs were characterized by their elegant lines and use of luxurious materials such as exotic woods, leather, and metal. He often collaborated with other artists and craftsmen, including metalworkers and glassmakers, to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Du Plantier’s work was highly influential during the mid-twentieth century, and his pieces were popular with collectors and decorators of the time. Today, his furniture is highly sought after by collectors and his pieces are considered some of the most important examples of mid-century French design.
