Gilbert Swimberghe, Oil on Paper on Panel

Fantastic artwork by Belgian abstract artist Gilbert Swimberghe , where a geometric shape descends into a deep blue canvas, with diagonal brushstrokes subtly overlaying the delicate forms beneath. As the layers intertwine, previous elements emerge, finding their way to the surface. This work is a great example of his signature style, characterized by the prominent use of triangles and squares, a design motif he has consistently used since the 1950s. Oil on paper on board, signed and dated 1997. Overall good condition with some minor surface marks.
