Amazing sideboard, attributed to Charles Dudouyt, circa 1940, in solid oak, with two doors with two shelves each and three drawers. The concentric circles carved on the doors, the semicircle at the bottom, and the perfect curve of the legs make this piece a perfect example of Dudouyt's work, masterfully combining the power of Brutalism with the elegance of Art Deco. Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) was a French furniture designer and woodworker who was active during the Art Deco and Modernist eras. He was known for his use of natural materials and his innovative approach to furniture design. Dudouyt's work was characterized by its simplicity and its use of natural materials such as oak, beech, and walnut. He favored simple, solid and geometric forms, giving rise to a perfect fusion between Art Deco and Brutalism.   Dudouyt's work was highly influential during the 1920s and 1930s, and his furniture was popular with collectors and enthusiasts of the time. Today, his work is highly sought after by collectors and his pieces are considered some of the most important examples of Art Deco, Modernist and Brutalism furniture design. The sideboard measures 190 cm long, 50 cm deep, and 106 cm high. It is in very good condition, with signs of wear, especially on the drawer handles. The veneer on the curved legs could use some light restoration to strengthen it, and possibly re-varnishing.
