This trivet was commissioned by the Villeroy & Boch pottery factory. It consists of a ceramic tile framed by a rustic wooden frame. Raymonde Leduc (1929-2019) created it in the 1960s in Vallauris. A renowned 20th-century French ceramicist, she worked in Vallauris at Cérenne with Roger Capron until 1958, and then for the company Tout Carrelage. She is best known for her Bruyère vase designs. The trivet's maritime theme transports us to the South of France on the Mediterranean coast. The vibrant colors of the design, featuring boats moored to the dock, are inspiring. In good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. The wood is unvarnished, and the grout is slightly cracked. The tile itself is in very good condition. A unique piece. The Villeroy & Boch manufacturer's mark is on the back of the tile. Signed by the artist R. Leduc on the tile. Dimensions: Height 2.7 cm, 19 cm X 19 cm with frame, 14.8 cm X 14.8 cm tile only. Weight without packaging: 461 g.
