Majestic binder from the famous English brand Shannon (early 20th century), proudly displayed on each original brass label holder and on each metal plate next to the mention "unis". This is striking as it is the ancestor of "made in France"; for an English brand, it is surprising. However, as seen with the catalogue reproduced in the advertisement, Shannon had distributors in our area; perhaps they had purchased the licence and manufactured here. In any case, this beautiful piece is a solid oak binder that opens with four large drawers that glide on metal bearings and can support a significant weight even when fully opened. Inside three of them, there is a wooden mechanism that allows for "clamping" files. In the fourth, there are some hanging files on the upper metal rods. The brass handles are thick and very aesthetic, like the label holders. The "unis - Shannon" plate is not a lock entry but the remnant of a mechanism that has disappeared in all the drawers without leaving a trace. It remains very decorative, and the absence of the mechanism does not detract from the use of the piece. All the drawers are dovetail jointed, the sides are screwed, and the whole is very solid and aesthetic. You can store files, of course, which are still suitable for current formats, but also clothes, comics in width, etc. A beautiful piece in its warm original patina, which, apart from a few superficial scratches here and there, is in excellent overall condition. H: 130 cm. L: 47 cm. P: 75 cm. Interior of a drawer: 74 X 33 X 27 (h) cm.
