Antique multi-drawer tradesman's cabinet in solid oak, signed Globe-Wernicke, dating from the 1920s. The hardware is original, except for the missing bottom handle which has been replaced with a wooden one. The drawer structure is made of metal. The front is oak with a handle and label holder. Drawer bottoms created for added practicality. The sides can be removed for transport. It has been fully disassembled, cleaned, sanded, and then protected. Some signs of wear over time, particularly on the top and at the back, top left. A piece that has become rare and is rich in history. It can easily be imagined in an office, as well as in a workshop, or even as a reimagined storage unit… A bit of history. Founded at the end of the 19th century in the United States, the Globe-Wernicke company was renowned for its modular and robust furniture, known for its quality of craftsmanship and ingenuity. The furniture was designed to last over time. Among the successes of Globe-Wernicke, we particularly think of the stackable modular bookcases known as "barrister bookcases." The company closed its doors in the middle of the last century. These pieces have now become rare and sought after.
