Louis XIII buffet – Exceptional piece from the late 17th century – Authentic and certified

This Louis XIII low sideboard is an exceptional piece, typical of regional furniture from the South-West or the Rhône Valley, dating from the late 17th or early 18th century. Its authenticity is confirmed by Josiane Aubry-Vergucht in 1993, who attests to its rigorous architectural style, noble materials, and characteristic sculpted details. It will delight collectors, enthusiasts of antique furniture, and those looking to incorporate an antique piece into a contemporary interior. 🔹 MAIN FEATURES ✅ Massive and geometric structure: Typical "low" sideboard of the Louis XIII style, with straight uprights and an imposing intermediate crossbar. ✅ Diamond-point panels: Prominent reliefs on the doors and drawers, a signature of the Louis XIII style, creating unique plays of shadow and light. ✅ Period sculptures: Finely chiseled acanthus leaves and palmettes on the consoles and at the centre of the upper crossbar. ✅ Original fittings: Iron lock entries with scroll motifs. "Mushroom" pull knobs. Lace hinges, typical of the period. ✅ "Ball" or "onion" feet: The final detail confirming the authenticity and Louis XIII style. 🔹 MATERIALS AND CONDITION Wood: Walnut for the body of the sideboard (noble wood, prized for its fine grain and ability to be sculpted). Oak top following a restoration for use, as indicated by the certificate of authenticity. Patina and signs of use: Some marks of time consistent with its age, notably a few woodworm holes visible on the façade, testimonies of its antiquity. Superb natural patina, without aggressive restoration. Functionality: All fittings are original and in excellent condition. This sideboard, present in my family for over 30 years, has a sober and elegant aesthetic. It will find its place as a storage unit, console, or even as a centrepiece in an entrance or living room.
