Dutch art deco Amsterdam school oak side table, 1930s

Round oak side table in the Dutch Art Deco manner, Amsterdamse school, with a moulded top edge carved with a row of small beads. The top sits on four slender, curved legs that splay slightly at the foot. A round lower shelf is fitted between the legs. The oak is a warm medium-dark brown with an even, aged patina, and the grain shows clearly on the top, shelf and legs. Condition is good for its age, with a sound, stable construction. There is light wear consistent with age and use: small nicks and marks on the legs and feet, some minor scuffs on the top and shelf, and a small area of wear on the beaded edge near one leg. Surface and patina are original and old, not freshly refinished. Dimensions: height 67 cm, top diameter 51 cm, shelf diameter 42 cm.
