Important and large Tabriz rug "Shah Abbas" from a castle in Belgium. Semi-antique (northwestern Iran) circa 1940. Beautiful design without central medallion, color of a unique emerald green and very rare in Tabriz rugs. On an emerald field, sowing of palmettes of "Shah-Abbas" flowers, foliage in twists in the shape of stylized diamonds. Seven borders including the main ruby decorated reminiscent of the central field in polychromy. Shah Abbas rugs depict in their border a vine and flowers with a field of elaborate palmettes of angular flowering and vines. These rugs are called "Shah Abbas" after the Iranian monarch of that name who reigned from 1587 to 1629. Today, Shah Abbas rugs are considered among the most beautiful Persian rugs, they are a perfect reflection of it bringing elegance and grace to any room they adorn. Dimensions: 514x350 cm without fringes, 520x350 cm with fringes. Condition: Good overall condition. Wool a little lower in the center of the rug but not visible, abraches (color difference) in the center visible only on one side of the rug. Selvedges completely redone on both sides of the rug.
