Large antique glazed ceramic bowl, of North African origin, probably from Morocco or Tunisia, dating likely from around 1920-1940. Very beautiful hand-painted geometric decoration, composed of interlacing and stylised patterns in a palette blending turquoise, cream, manganese brown, and cobalt blue. The piece has a lovely depth, a wide diameter of 29 cm, and rests on a ring foot. The reverse bears a handwritten mark in Arabic characters accompanied by a Latin "M", probably a workshop or decorator's mark. Dimensions: diameter 29 cm – height 7 cm. Very good overall condition for its age: no significant cracks or chips. A few very slight, occasional losses of glaze in the centre, as well as a patina and small firing irregularities consistent with its age and artisanal production.
