Second Empire Table Lamp, Napoleon III Era Period: Late 19th century (circa 1860–1880) An elegant gilt brass table lamp, typical of the refined taste of the Second Empire. The central stem, fluted and slightly flared at the base, rests on a circular foot finely chased with regular motifs. The upper section is adorned with a meticulously crafted repoussé decorative frieze, which supports a superb shade of jade green opaline glass with a soft, nuanced hue. The shade diffuses a warm, soft light, creating an intimate and elegant atmosphere. The piece perfectly illustrates the marriage of classicism and decorative refinement characteristic of the Napoleon III style, where gilt metal and noble materials combine to evoke the luxury and modernity of the Second Empire. The 3-meter double-twisted cotton electrical cord in an antique gold color, equipped with a switch, respects the antique style while allowing for contemporary use. This electrical system is, of course, entirely new. The weighted cast iron base is numbered. This lamp is representative of the elegance of furniture and decorative objects from the second half of the 19th century, a period that favored the richness of materials and attention to detail. It will find its perfect place in a classic, bourgeois, or contemporary interior. This piece is, of course, in perfect condition, both the globe and the base, without any dents, chips, or cracks. Total height: 41 cm.
