Scandinavian table lamp by Einar Bäckström. Model 4836, 1940s. This very well-preserved example has remained in the same Swedish family since its first owner received it as a 60th birthday gift, as symbolized by the engraving visible on the base of the lamp near the switch. The brass parts have a remarkable patina, while the elm wood stem is in very good condition. The lamp is complete, including the original sockets. The metal parts are straight and free of defects, exhibiting natural brass oxidation that can be polished to a bright finish. The switch is new, as is the braided cord from the switch to the wall plug. The wiring from the switch to the sockets has also been recently updated, and the lamp is in working order.
