We are offering for sale this set of three “Egg” stools, designed by Roberto Foschia for the prestigious Italian manufacturer Midj. Combining a sculptural silhouette with ergonomic comfort, these pieces embody the postmodern design of the 1990s and are distinguished by a resolutely contemporary ovoid shape, reminiscent of the “Space Age” style: a molded polypropylene shell tinted in ivory white rests on a spiderweb-like base of welded steel tubing, finished with a gunmetal gray epoxy lacquer. The four slightly curved legs meet under the seat and flare out towards the floor, giving the whole piece great stability while recalling the biomorphic elegance of late 20th-century Italian design. A curved footrest, welded on two axes, completes the ergonomics and underscores the “contract” character of this model, originally designed for bars and reception areas. Behind this fluid design lies the signature of Roberto Foschia, an Italian designer from Friuli, active in the contract and residential furniture sector since the 1980s. A long-time collaborator of Midj, Foschia has successfully combined industrial rigor with formal experimentation in his creations, as evidenced by this “Egg” model, sometimes called “Cico” or “Coquille” in the brand's older catalogs. - Dimensions (cm): 62.5 (H) X 38 (W) X 35 (D) X 48 (seat H).
