This lithograph “The Beautiful Land of Brittany - Stream at Lopérec” bears a red stamp in the bottom left corner. The lithograph is in superb condition, the colours are perfect, and we note for the more particular some minor defects in the margin. Once framed, these defects will be less visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically aquatint, in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with the creation of innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
