Designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli in the 1970s, the Platone desk is a celebrated example of Italian Mid-Century ingenuity. Today, it stands as a design icon, proudly included in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. Its beige polyurethane top and chrome steel structure embody the era’s passion for refined geometry and pioneering use of materials. Ingeniously foldable, the desk balances functionality with a sculptural presence, making it both versatile and striking. Paired here with the equally renowned Plia folding chair, also by Piretti, the ensemble captures the timeless spirit of Italian modernism — an ideal choice for collectors and lovers of authentic mid-century design. In excellent condition. the chrome parts are well preserved with minimal signs of oxidation. some superficial scratches and very light scuffs, mostly concentrated on the underside of the desk (therefore not visible). the chair and desk are both beige, but in slightly different shades. all the feet are original, new, and have been replaced. label on the chair, branding on the desk.
