Ball vase with handle made by the Italian-Swiss Mario Mascarin (1901-1966) in the 1930s. Trained as a journalist, he worked as a special correspondent in Norway for an Italian newspaper. After the newspaper closed, he stayed in Norway for several years where he worked in a pottery factory. In 1936, he moved to Switzerland and worked for various ceramic factories. At the same time, he produced personal pieces by testing glazing techniques. In 1963, his years of experience were consecrated as he won the Ballardini Prize from the Italian Institute of Ceramic Art in Faenza. Blue glaze work on stoneware left bare in places to show the raw material. Rare and unique object born from the artist's imagination. Hollow signature under the vase including a double m in an oval cartouche. Very good condition. Dimensions: height 25 cm, neck diameter 9 cm, bottom diameter 7 cm, diameter with handle 20 cm. Weight without packaging: 2.6 kg. Recycled and careful packaging.
