Traditional pidha chair in carved wood. Early twentieth century. The "pidha" or pidda chairs are low chairs made of wood and metal with an often carved backrest. Traditionally, these chairs were offered to brides for their trousseau, practically forgotten today. The seat could be braided with cotton strips or rope as here. The chairs were then used daily in the house. The backrest is sculpted. Height: 69 cm - 27.16" Width: 51 cm - 20.07" Depth: 70 cm - 27.55" Seat height: 20 cm - 7.87" Weight: 8 kg.
