Wall or table lamp by raak – a rare masterpiece by willem van oyen the c-1701 lamp, designed by renowned dutch stained-glass artist willem van oyen for raak amsterdam, is an impressive piece of mid-century lighting design. Produced in the 1970s, this sculptural lamp features a perforated grey-lacquered metal body with inlays of handcrafted colored glass and copper tubes. Each glass insert is uniquely handmade, making every lamp a one-of-a-kind piece. This version has a metallic silvegray base. Born in 1921 in Amsterdam, van Oyen gained recognition in the postwar period for his innovative glasswork, utilizing techniques such as appliqué staining, sandblasting, opal grinding, and fusing. Working from his bevo glas industrie workshop, he initially created monumental glass installations for factories, churches, and public buildings before turning to lighting design. His collaboration with raak resulted in several exceptional stained-glass lamps. We are proud to offer two of these rare lamps. While designed as a wall lamp, it also works perfectly as a table lamp, making it a versatile addition to any space. In very good condition, these lamps retain their original charm with minor signs of age and use. The combination of industrial materials and handcrafted glass ensures that each piece is slightly different from the others, making every lamp a unique work of art.
