Space Age UFO Pendant by Ludib Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, 1960s

A distinctive Space Age UFO pendant light manufactured by Ludib Bratislava in Czechoslovakia during the 1960s, retaining its original manufacturer’s label. The fixture is an excellent example of the futuristic lighting aesthetic that emerged during the Space Age. Its broad, flattened circular body creates the classic flying-saucer silhouette, executed in glossy black lacquered metal and accented with polished brass. The underside incorporates a large textured glass diffuser framed in brass, together with a smaller circular frosted glass diffuser at the center. When illuminated, the textured glass produces a warm and atmospheric light while emphasizing the concentric geometry of the design. The original manufacturer’s label remains present and identifies the piece as Ludib Bratislava, Type Z-04/II, Czechoslovakia.
