Very elegant Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) sofa, Germany circa 1900, convertible into a guest bed thanks to its fold-out armrests. A refined piece of furniture, both decorative and functional, perfect for a distinctive interior. • Frame: sturdy, solid wood. • Upholstery: original green velvet, embellished with fine trimmings and decorative fringes. • Seat: Genoa velvet with a very worn floral pattern, in need of replacement (the springs are worn). • Remarkable details: • the armrests decorated with a very graphic geometric Greek frieze, • the purity of the lines of the backrest with its right angles, • the possibility of folding down the sides to create a guest bed. ✨ This piece lends itself to a light restoration: by retaining the original green velvet and simply changing the seat fabric (for example, to a more contemporary plain velvet), the sofa regains a look that is both modern and opulent, while maintaining its authenticity.
