This is an original U-453 sideboard, designed by celebrated Czech furniture designer Jiří Jiroutek (1928–2023) and produced in the 1960s by Interiér Praha in former Czechoslovakia. Crafted in light brown oak wood and accented with black and white Formica drawers, the sideboard is a strong yet elegant example of Mid-Century Modern design from Central Europe. It belongs to Jiroutek’s iconic U collection, a cohesive furniture line that also included coffee tables, sofas, cabinets, and other interior elements, all designed to be modular, functional, and visually distinctive. This particular sideboard is in very good vintage condition, showing only minor signs of age-appropriate wear on the wooden surface and Formica drawers, acquired naturally over decades of use. These subtle traces of time add to the authenticity and character of the piece.
