Vintage Oak CE07 plywood chest of drawers by Cees Braakman for Pastoe

Beautiful chest of drawers by Cees Braakman for Pastoe from 1952. This model, CE07, is a rare piece from the oak series. This series of furniture was meant to mark the transition from heavy pre-war oak furniture to the new post-war modern era, fully in line with the 'good living' philosophy. Braakman drew inspiration from American designs, especially the use of plywood for the anti-dust drawers, which was ahead of its time in Europe. The minimal design with a nod to the past is a wonderful reflection of its era. The chest has been fully restored and refinished and is therefore in good vintage condition.
