Chinese camphor wood chest, fully hand-carved, mid-20th century (circa 1950-1960). Chinese export work with deep and meticulous carving. Relief decoration on all sides and on the lid: battle scene with horsemen and horses in front of ramparts, calligraphic cartouche of Chinese characters, floral borders and geometric friezes. Brass closure with mask motif, sculpted feet with Greek pattern, interior tray with slats. Camphor wood emits a natural and pleasant aroma and is known to repel moths: ideal for storing linen, blankets, or keepsakes. A beautiful piece for the interior, perfect as a footrest, coffee table, side table, or decorative storage unit. Condition: generally good condition, solid and stable structure, clean and fragrant interior. Some signs of wear related to age. Transparently: the original lock is present but broken (the chest having been opened without a key); the lid opens and closes perfectly.
