Superb pair of earthenware cache pots decorated with a flowered branch band on a midnight blue background. The turquoise blue and white flowers decorated with gold are hand painted. The frieze is enhanced at the top and bottom by subtle pearl threads. The neck is shaped like a handkerchief. These cache pots have numerous marks allowing them to be dated to the 1920s-1930s: - hollow mark royal doulton england (crown surmounted by a lion and intertwined ds) affixed between 1928 and 1936. - doulton & slaters patent mark affixed between 1885 and 1939. John slater was artistic director at doulton between 1887 and 1914 and developed special enamels/techniques, including those marked doulton & slaters patent. - numbered x5748 and hollow mark tg and apocryphal signature of the painter. Pieces in very good condition. Light wear to the gilding related to their age, a guarantee of their authenticity.
