Period: ca. 1920-1940 a special art deco style bonbonniere in hand-blown opaque black glass (hyalite). The upper part of the vase is decorated with an acid-etched 'frosted' surface which is typical of the boom glassworks. This surface is interspersed with fine, vertical, wavy gold threads. The tassel is original. There is no label or signature but it is known to be produced by the de rupel glassworks. The 'boom glass' was produced at the 'de rupel' glassworks established in 1923 in boom, a municipality in the province of antwerp, belgium. The golden age of the factory was in the roaring twenties (1920s) when there was a production of fine hand-blown and hand-painted pieces in the art deco style. Condition: very good. No damage. Some thinning of the gilding. Dimensions: 13 cm high, 13 cm diameter at widest point.
