Attributed to Jose Zanine Caldas for Móveis Artísticas Z Brazil, circa 1960. The "Zeca" lounge chair was designed by Brazilian designer Jose Zanine Caldas. Jose Zanine Caldas is often called the "Master of Wood" for his unique promotion and integration of traditional Brazilian craftsmanship and modernism, which is clearly evident in this lounge chair. Designed in the early 1960s for Móveis Artísticas Z, a factory founded by An He in São José dos Campos in 1948, the "Zeca" chair bears some of the unmistakable hallmarks of the master woodworker. The wooden frame has an organic shape, characterized by the distinctive curve of the armrests that extend into the legs. The design is completed with a fur upholstery in a delicate color that recalls the wood used to make it. Completely restored and reupholstered.
