Pair of antique Northern French black-stained chairs with rush seats
This understated pair of antique Northern French chairs dates from around 1900. The frames are black-stained and beautifully weathered by years of use: along the edges, warm brown wood shows through the dark finish. The hand-woven rush seats provide a natural, tactile contrast. Slender proportions, slightly curved back uprights and a wide curved top rail: a classic French country silhouette, with a beautifully lived-in finish. Use them as dining chairs or as a decorative accent; perfect in a wabi-sabi or Japandi interior, a French farmhouse setting or a modern minimalist space. Good condition, with a beautiful lived-in patina and signs of use.
