Pygmalion and Galatea modern sculpture by Cuban artist Manuel Carbonell

Absolutely stunning sculpture by Latin American master artist Manuel Carbonell. Regarded as one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century, Carbonell passed away in November 2011. Interest in his work has since skyrocketed. This 1963 piece, 'Pygmalion and Galatea', was created by Carbonell for Austin Productions. Molded from Durastone, with a painted glaze finish that resembles exotic hardwood. Signed by the artist 'Carbonell', this was a limited run work of art, produced only in 1963 — during the height of Carbonell’s career. Few of these have survived. Truly a rare and remarkable piece for any collector of Cuban or modern art. Condition: Clean vintage condition. No remarkable wear.
