This woven willow basket, dating from the early 20th century, is a piece of craftsmanship from Linshu County in China, known for its willow branch weaving, in the Shandong region, located between Beijing and Shanghai. These baskets were used to transport grain, fresh produce, or goods along rivers. It is now an elegant decorative item. The neck is a curved willow leaf. This basket still has its metal ring at the neck, which is quite rare for this type of basket. It is also larger (34 cm) than the grain measures (5 cents) generally sold on auction sites. It is in good condition, although the base is slightly worn, but not repaired or covered with a patch. Height: 34 cm. Diameter at the neck: 26 cm. Collection in person in Paris is preferred, given its size. Shipping to be discussed.
