Happiness of decorations, explosion of colors, geometric patterns with arabesques and celtic perfume... The earthenware of saint-jean de bretagne does not go unnoticed! It is in brittany in morbihan, in the commune of saint-jean pottery that these earthenware were produced from 1951, benefiting from the centuries-old heritage of working the potters' land. It is indeed from 1420 that a community of potters, settled on this territory and developed its talents by producing pottery essentially for utilitarian vocation such as milk jars, cider or honey jars, bowls, soup pots, ... By 1881, there were up to 25 master potters based in saint john. It was at the beginning of the twentieth century that activity declined until the almost total disappearance of potters during the events of the first world war. In 1951, the earthenware factory of st-jean de bretagne reopened, then with up to 80 employees benefiting from modern working conditions with oil ovens for example. The decorators make up more than half of the staff and all the decorations are handmade, as evidenced by the signatures and inscriptions on the reverse of each piece.
