Caucasian carpet Pirebedil 206x147 cm

Wool rug on a cotton foundation, handmade with very short pile, making it a very fine rug. Nearly century-old rug (dated from the 1940s by an expert, see certificate), originating from the USSR, East Caucasus region (Azerbaijan), from the Quba district, known for its high knot density productions, with sumptuous, detailed designs and whimsical geometric shapes, but very ancient. Productions sold under the name Shirvan in the West. This particular model comes from the village of Pirebedil (Pirabadil, Perepetil), now in the Shabran department (Deveçi). Dimensions 147x206 cm. Shiny wool, beautiful colours. Very worn fringes, in need of restoration. Rug professionally washed by hand by an Oriental rug artisan (invoice available upon request).
