S panton chair first series (glass-reinforced polyester resin)

Rare first edition 1967 ("series 1") of Verner Panton's famous S chair. These early series were made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester resin, heavier (8kg) but very sturdy. They were only available in three colors: black, white, or red. Note that these early series were not branded. In very good original condition, with only very minor signs of wear. (A little history: subsequent series were made of colored lacquered polyurethane foam and injected Luran S, which was unreliable and brittle. From 1983 onwards, a new, more reliable polyurethane foam molding process was used, and more recently, another injection process using polypropylene. Many very poor-quality copies made of simple plastic have also appeared in recent years.).
