Stoneware jug by Jean Talbot, La Borne, 1940s. Height: 17 cm Length: 14 cm Width: 11 cm Capacity: 90 centilitres Signed: Jean Talbot - La Borne - Cher. The very dark brown glaze, almost black, has a beautiful shiny and slightly irregular finish. Its surface is animated by subtle effects of texture and shades of brown-red, grey, and deep blue, particularly visible in the light. The wood firing has accentuated these natural variations, typical of artisanal stoneware. Very good overall condition. The visible defects on the underside are related to the removal of the object after wood firing. It sometimes happens that pieces stick together or to the kiln shelf during firing. A few barely perceptible micro-scratches can also be observed on the glaze.
