Iconic design candlestick signed by Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985), one of the most influential Finnish designers of the 20th century, for the German manufacturer Rosenthal, dating from the 1970s. This sculptural model stands out with an architectural silhouette typical of Nordic modernism: a composition of stacked volumes, featuring an elegant contrast between the deep red upper part and the midnight blue base. The whole piece offers a strong and graphic presence, perfectly aligned with the aesthetic of post-war Scandinavian design. Founded in Germany, Rosenthal is a major porcelain and design manufacturer. The "Studio Linie" line, launched in the 1960s, marked a turning point: the brand enlisted international designers (Wirkkala, Raymond Loewy, etc.) to produce contemporary objects with high artistic value. Studio Linie pieces are now sought after for their craftsmanship and significance in the history of European design. ✨ Features. • Original Rosenthal Studio Linie model. • Signature/label present under the base (see photo) • Glazed ceramic. • Colours: deep red and midnight blue. • Sculptural and decorative design. Dimensions: 18 cm X 10 cm X 10 cm. Weight: 425 g. Very good vintage condition.
