Party or mela, Rajasthan

The mela, in hindi, is a village festival, a fair. There are attractions, pet vendors, candy stalls, a traveling photographer and lots of noise. During his career as a photographer, mr. Sharma has tackled all subjects: animals, wild or domestic, bollywood starlets, architecture, religion. What I like most of all are his photographs taken in rajasthan and jaipur in the 1950s and 1960s where we see an india still vaguely familiar and yet already outdated.
