Collector's item: Original Thonet Piano Stool No.1 with beautiful patina and hand-woven Viennese rattan from the late 19th century. A rotatable stool by the traditional company Gebrüder Thonet, Vienna - Austria. The piano stool is made of beech wood and has a frame with a bentwood ring. The curved legs are held together by the bent wood ring. It is heavy and very stable. The height can be adjusted from 46 cm to about 60 cm via a long, smoothly running spindle. The seat surface is made of what is known as Viennese rattan, with the remaining parts made of solid beech wood or metal. In this early model, the seat ring is still supported by cross-arranged, slightly bent woods; in later models, these were replaced by metal. Color tone palisander or medium walnut. Condition: The surfaces have been partially sanded and refreshed with shellac polish. The stool is stamped with the original Thonet mark under the seat surface. The hand-woven Viennese rattan is in good condition, although it sags slightly - see pictures. The stool shows normal signs of use on the surfaces, but overall, it is in very good usable condition.
