Authentic prie-dieu chair with a pronounced brutalist and monastic style, originating from Switzerland and dating from the 1960s/1970s. Entirely made of dark brown stained solid oak, this piece captivates with its architectural, radical, and geometric lines. Its main feature lies in its square seat, sculpted with a wide concave circular bowl directly carved from the mass of the wood, as well as its characteristic curved upper backrest. With its minimalist and raw design, it fits perfectly into a Wabi-Sabi, modernist, or contemporary rustic decor. Very versatile, it will make a statement as a sculptural accent chair in an entrance, a graphic valet, or integrated around a raw wood dining table. Features & Condition: Material: Very dense and heavy solid oak. Style: Brutalist / Monastic / Church / Alpine. Overall condition: Beautiful vintage condition. The chair shows a magnificent original patina with slight marks, micro-scratches, and small varnish chips from use that add to its authentic charm and history (see detailed photos). Structure perfectly stable and robust.
