Maison Arlus wall lamps France 1960s

These wall lamps by Maison Arlus are among the most recognisable examples of French design from the late 1950s and early 1960s. With a clever combination of form and material, the manufacturer created a design that still looks modern today. The design is defined by an opaline glass cube with rounded corners, intersected by a slender brass element that remains visible above and below the glass. This simple composition gives the lamps their distinctive appearance and elegant balance. The interplay between opaline glass, warm brass, and dark lacquered steel creates depth and contrast. The layered construction subtly changes the look from different angles, giving the lamps a strong presence even during the day. When lit, the opaline glass emits a soft, even glow while the light source is completely hidden from view. This makes these lamps suitable for both ambient and accent lighting.
