Mid-century Venetian mirror

Vintage mirror from the mid-20th century, in Venetian style. This exceptional piece stands out for its oval shape with delicately bevelled edges, set within a sumptuous mirror frame entirely handcrafted. The frame features soft shapes and a scalloped outline around its perimeter, topped with an elegant ornamental pediment. The engraving work, done with great finesse directly on the reverse of the glass (intaglio technique), reveals a poetic decoration: a delicate basket of flowers, ears of wheat symbolising prosperity, floral motifs, and charming garlands of pearls. This engraving creates a superb relief effect and a unique refraction of light, showcasing the craftsmanship of a skilled artisan. The entire structure is adorned and reinforced by 8 period blown/moulded glass rosettes, meticulously fixed. A characterful piece, very bright, ideal for adding a touch of historical charm and retro elegance to an entrance, bedroom, or contemporary living room. In very good overall condition, there are minor chips of glass near the lower rosettes and a crack partially hidden under the lower left rosette.
