This Afghan gold Ersari hand-woven oriental rug was made in Afghanistan during the 1930s. Also known as golden Afghan. It is dyed in golden brown colours, using naturally obtained dyes. The centre of the rug features a triple, geometric medallion, minimally decorated with small, traditional accents. Golden Ersari rugs are a type of traditional rug originating from the Ersari tribe, which is one of the Turkmen tribes inhabiting the regions of present-day Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and northern Uzbekistan. The name golden Ersari refers to the specific colour scheme and their design. The main distinguishing feature of these rugs is the golden yellow or golden brown colour. In addition to golden shades, these rugs can also contain reds, browns, burgundy, and dark blue or green accents. The design of Ersari rugs is often dominated by large, geometric motifs called gul, which are symmetrically placed over the entire surface of the rug. The patterns may be more severe and simple compared to other Turkmen rugs, but they still retain their traditional tribal character. Stylised floral patterns can also be found in some rugs. These rugs are usually woven from high-quality wool, which makes them soft but very durable. Golden Ersari rugs are handwoven with great precision, and their weave is dense, which further increases their durability and quality. They are valued for their warm, rich colours and traditional tribal patterns, which give them a unique, authentic character. They are a great example of high-quality Central Asian handicraft. The rug is in original vintage condition. It has signs of wear related to age, minor damage to the fleece and fringes. Before shipping, the rug will be professionally cleaned and ready for use. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones.
