Glazed ceramic character piece signed Cathy Wurge (Atelier de Latour, Belgium), made around 1970. This anthropomorphic candlestick represents a stylised female figure with iconic braids, holding a bowl-shaped receptacle. The object stands out for its superb monochrome emerald green glaze, with deep nuances brought by the relief work of the enamel. It is a remarkable example of Belgian studio ceramics from the second half of the 20th century, blending folk inspiration with modernist lines. Its unique design and sculptural silhouette make it a striking decorative piece, equally elegant when unlit as when used with a candle.
