Set of 2 black rush dining chairs – Magistretti / Perriand style, 1970s

A graphic set of two black lacquered dining chairs with rush seats, made in Italy in the 1970s. These chairs are often attributed to Vico Magistretti for Cassina and sit in the tradition of Charlotte Perriand: sober forms, sturdy wood and natural materials. The solid wood frame with its round posts and the light, hand-woven rush seat create a powerful contrast. The seats have been rewoven with new rush. The bold contrast of black wood and natural rush makes these chairs both graphic and timeless. Lovely at a wooden or stone dining table, as occasional chairs in a hallway or bedroom, or in a modern, Japandi, wabi-sabi or mid-century interior. Condition: good, new rush seats. The black lacquer shows signs of use consistent with age, clearly visible in the photos.
