Attention to Jacques ADNET (1900-1984) Rare pair of Club armchairs with a reclining backrest and full armrests, entirely covered in cream fabric with solid beech feet. France, circa 1940. Dimensions: H. 78 cm – W. 85 cm – D. 95 cm. In used condition (wear, missing parts, stains). Collection in person in Lyon or transport organised by you. Extremely comfortable, these armchairs embody the rigour and functional elegance of French furniture from the 1940s. They combine an enveloping shape, balanced proportions, and sober lines, in a spirit that is both modern and timeless. Biographical elements. French architect and decorator, Jacques Adnet is a major figure in the modernism of the 1930s–1950s. As director of La Compagnie des Arts Français, he developed a style that combines geometric elegance, rigour of lines, and refined use of materials, particularly leather, which became one of his signatures. His furniture, now highly sought after, embodies the discreet and functional luxury of the interwar period and the early post-war years.
