Very pretty small still life in oil on canvas signed Sarpe and dated 1979, depicting a brass mortar with its pestle, garlic, and an egg against a soft background in brown and green tones. Neat work, bright contrasts. The wooden and gilded stucco frame, richly moulded in the Rococo style, enhances the whole piece. Canvas in landscape format 27x22 cm, frame 40x35 cm and 6 cm thick. Very good overall condition; frame partially regilded and repaired at the top, discreetly, canvas clean with no missing parts or tears. Approximately 1.2 kg.
